Tracking Your Coins, Price Alerts - Blockfolio

Image
Don't want to stare at coin charts every day wondering when your sell (or buy) targets will get hit? Blockfolio app can track your crypto portfolio and gives you price alerts when coins hit a certain price. You can also input your coins and the price you bought them for to see their current USD value. This is fun, but also scary if the market dips and prices go down.  So it's not for everyone. I prefer to buy it and forget it, so don't personally use this app. But if you like to monitor things and don't get too emotional about market movements, then go for it!  It also helps make tax calculating easier, I've heard. Buying Theta, Theta Fuel using the ChangeAngel swap site

Image
I've been writing this swap site how-to down for all the people who needed help buying Theta and Theta Fuel lately. This is NOT a recommendation to buy any coin, just how-to: Theta and Tfuel use the same address in the Theta wallet. 1. Purchase USDC coin on Coinbase (Buy/Sell select USDC) and wait 3-4 days so it can be withdrawn. For instant withdrawals purchase with your debit card (higher fees) instead of bank ACH transfer. USDC is a stable coin like a crypto dollar that doesn't fluctuate and there is no fee to buy it on Coinbase. 2. Go to ChangeAngel.io and select USDC on the top (send) and Theta on the bottom (receive). Enter in the exact amount of USDC you'd like to purchase Theta with. (I leave out $5 - $10 from my total USDC on Coinbase for fees just in case, I do not send the full amount I have.) Click Exchange. 4. Enter in your Theta Wallet address (go to ThetaToken.org and download a wallet or simply install the app on your phone. Copy the receiving address from

Abra wallet app - How to sign up and buy (Digibyte, Cardano and many more)

ABRA WALLET APP   While Coinbase is super simple, I like Abra as another way to quickly buy some other alternative coins, as well as the top coins. It only takes a day or two to deposit USD (usually the same day) vs other exchanges that take around 5 days.  Abra is a bitcoin-based digital wallet app that lives on your smartphone. (Coinbase also has a mobile app, but Abra ONLY has this option.) It is an easy way to buy, sell, store, send and receive bitcoin from anywhere in the world. Abra supports bitcoin as well as over 50 global currencies which means you can convert in and out of bitcoin or any available currency, easily. You can also send bitcoin to anyone who has a bitcoin or an Abra wallet and receive bitcoin or money. Simply search Abra on your app store and download it. You’ll have to go through a similar process as Coinbase. I trust Abra because it is US-based and they go by the book. This means they will need personal info from you to help protect your funds: https://suppor

Coinbase - How to sign up and buy

Image
COINBASE   Coinbase is the top trusted crypto exchange in the US. Sign up on the website or download the phone app. All cryptocurrencies on Coinbase are covered by insurance. Only 2% are held online. However, individual accounts are NOT insured, so use a strong password and secure email. It may ask you to download an app called Google Authenticator for extra security (2FA), or you can scroll down and click "skip for now" (this is more secure than nothing, or the other option of using SMS text codes, so you may want to set up 2FA soon). Sign up here for Coinbase:  https://www.coinbase.com/join/5a3bd9efed784c05a7823d03 Using referral links gives bonuses on most exchanges and/or saves fees. That’s mine above. I believe Coinbase offers $10 free Bitcoin to us both on your first purchase of $100 of any coin. Woohoo! (Thanks, I appreciate it!) How to buy your first coin: Type in your name and email. I use the same name that is on my bank account so there is no confusion. Make you

Storing Digibyte on the DGB Phone Wallet (from Abra, for example)

STORING DIGIBYTE If you use Abra to buy Digibyte, for example, you could secure it for the long term in the Digibyte mobile wallet.  Download the DGB wallet on google play store or apple store. Write down your recovery words it gives you - DO NOT TAKE A PIC OF THEM!! --write down words. laminate and hide this (make two copies), as this is the KEY to your coins should anything happen to your phone, etc. Bury it or something! It is sacred. Click the + button and click Receive Copy the receiving address to your clipboard Open Abra, click Withdraw Send to Crypto wallet Click on Digibyte paste in the address enter the full or partial amount to send to wallet click Review. confirm and done!!

Crypto Security

CRYPTO SECURITY Don’t leave your private keys just lying around. Please??! As soon as you write down your keys they are “sacred relics” to be cherished and guarded with ferocity! While we’re on the subject of “DON’T!!!s”, please don’t ever send any cryptos to a famous person who is “Giving away Bitcoin!” or some other coin. There are many of these scams and quite a few of my very savvy clients almost fell for them. It’s amazing Youtube and other platforms allow this kind of thing… It can be very convincing. Rarely does anyone give away cryptos. Just ignore it. Or better, report it.  Also, don’t tell people how much crypto you have. Don’t brag either. I educate people about cryptos but nobody knows how much or how little I have and I always play it cool. “A little goes a long way” is my motto, “so no need to go overboard”. And this is true for me! I do not go overboard. If I am helping you buy/secure cryptos, I will never disclose your name and amount to others. Not to your friends

Intro to Wallets

Image
WALLETS Now, you may be just fine simply leaving your coins on Coinbase. But I will share my view on wallets so you are at least aware of why they might be a very good thing to have.  Wallets are like the spaceship interface, the navigation board, the command center for how to direct and move your cryptos around this invisible blockchain they run on. That’s all! And, if you have a simple wallet, it should be simple! As you may know, your coins have a public key and a private key, both of which you need if you are going to have full control over your coins. Exchanges will show you your public key, but not your private key. The main point of having your own wallet is to have access to your own private key for each coin. This is a long chain of numbers and letters, your private access to your coins on the blockchain.  Nobody can take your coins IF only you have the private key with which to move them on the blockchain. Because exchanges don’t allow us to have this, I don’t leave my cryp
